Sail Grand Prix Yachting for a true Whitsundays sailing experience! Experience small group travel, exhilarating sailing and the iconic Whitehaven Beach. Explore the incredible underwater world with a snorkel at one of the Whitsundays’ pristine locations. And, on our high-performance yacht, you’ll enjoy your day in an environmentally sustainable way!
'Merit' is a 60 foot Volvo ocean racer, a veteran of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, and will continue a racing program in 2017; she's a serious machine! You are welcome to jump on the grinder and get a hands on experience or just sit back and enjoy the ride — it is entirely up to you!
And if you're unsure about sailing, we'll make sure you're comfortable and well looked after.
What we do:
- Pick you up from your accommodation with our courtesy shuttle
- Depart Shute Harbour at 8:00am for a Whitehaven Beach full day sail/snorkel with Grand Prix Yachting
- Spend up to 2 hours on Whitehaven Beach!
- Up to 1 hour snorkeling at a location best suited to the days conditions
- Fresh, healthy morning tea and lunch included
- Sail back to Shute Harbour: afternoon tea served while underway.
What’s included:
- Snorkel, mask and stinger suit hire included
- Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
- Transfer to/from accommodation included
- Sailing experience aboard a real race boat!
Optional extras:
- Soft drinks and water available for purchase on board
- BYO alcohol if you wish
- We suggest bringing a jacket in case the breeze is cool
Check in: 7:30 am at Shute Harbour
Depart: 8:00 am; return approx 4:00 pm
Please be aware bookings close mid day the day prior to departure
Price: $179 per person (minimum 8 years)

sailing whitesunday
The whole day sailing and snorkling was the highlight of our stay at Airlie beach. Jo and Michael are very special hosts and made us feel part of the crew.

Absolutely amazing
We had the best time on this cruise! Would definitely recommend to all! Nice and relaxing, friendly crew and even got a turtle selfie!

First time sailing- amazing!
The day was amazing! Even though tides were higher than normal I was still able to see lots of different fish and coral and even a reef shark! It swam right below me- the most amazing experience! I would love to go again and hope to see turtles next time. The boat experience was amazing sailing back to Airlie as we had steady winds to send us home. We had a very safe and thoroughly enjoyable day out with Merit.

Sehr netter Segeltag
Wir hatten zum Glück gutes Wetter und der erste Schnorchelspot war auch wunderschön. Der zweiter leider sehr enttäuschend (keine Fische und nicht viele Korallen) Uns wurden die Wetsuits auch einfach in die Hand gedrückt und mussten am Ende dafür zahlen. Das hätte fairer ablaufen können! Man solltet sich auch unbedingt Wasser mitnehmen. Wir haben keine Getränke auf dem Schiff bekommen obwohl wir dachten dass man die dort kaufen kann! Das Team war super lieb und das Essen war auch ziemlich gut!
