No trip to the Whitsundays should go without experiencing the Great Barrier Reef. One of the Seventh Natural Wonders of the World, the Great Barrier Reef is a remarkable ecosystem with an abundance of marine life and coral on display.

Departing Airlie Beach (Shute Harbour), jump on board and experience a full-day snorkelling adventure with Explore Group. You’ll be taken to discover selected moorings around Bait Reef - the closest of the outer reef locations, and will travel between sites in comfort on board their custom-built dive/snorkel vessel.

Restrictions

  • Minimum age: 5
  • As you need to enter the water to enjoy the reef, this cruise is not suitable for those that cannot swim. Minimum age for the tour is 5 years.

  • Departures: Departs Airlie Beach's Shute Harbour at 6:45am and returns 5.20pm

    Meeting Point: 6:35am, Meeting at Shute Harbour Terminal at our check in desk.

    Please Note - For Diving: Children must be 12 years and older to participate in diving, and 14 years old to take part in our Discover SCUBA Diving Course (Intro Diving). You must complete a diving medical questionnaire before being able to dive with us. All certified divers must produce their certification card or log book at the time of booking.

    Alternative Snorkel Sites:

    Occasionally strong winds prohibit us from reaching Bait Reef, on these days we will snorkel on the best of the numerous alternative fringing reef sites within the Great Barrier Reef, this offering a similar exceptional experience with an abundance of marine life.

Schöne Tour, trotz teilweise schlechtem Wetter

Aufgrund der Wetterlage ging die Tour leider nicht zum Outer Reef, sondern zu zwei Spots bei Hook Island. Die Crew war sehr nett und hilfsbereit, da nur 21 Gäste an Bord waren, war die Fahrt und auch die 2 Schnorchelausflüge sehr angenehm. Beim ersten Spot war leider aufgrund der hohen Tide und des unruhigen Meeres nicht viel zu sehen, der zweite Spot war aber sehr schön. Es gab zwar nicht so viele Fische wie am Outer Reef zu sehen, aber ganz tolle Softkorallen. Wir hatten die Tour für 160 AUS$/Person "Last minute" gebucht. Das Geld war gut angelegt. Vielen Dank noch an das Team von Skipper Sean.

In dieser Bewertung geht es nur um die Kulisse des Great Barrier Reefs, denn das Explore Team war super nett, zufriedenstellend und sehr hilfsbereit! Jedoch hätte ich mir eine warme Mahlzeit zum Lunch gewünscht. Leider war ich sehr enttäuscht vom Great Barrier Reef, da ich eine bunte Vielfalt von Fischen erwartet hatte. Das Riff war leider auch nicht bunt. Es war so, als wäre das Riff ausgestorben. Es waren nur vereinzelnd paar tolle fische zu sehen. Ich habe leider mehr erwartet. Beispielsweise einen Fischschwarm. Das Riff war leider nicht reich an Fischen besetzt..

Ein perfekter Tag

Schon das finden des Treffpunkts Marina Point D war gut organisiert, denn wir landeten zunächst bei Point c. Aber Explorer hatte auch dort jemanden postiert, der uns gleich im Empfang nahm und auf der Liste abhakte, Sicheitsbriefing, Schnorcheln, Essen, Trinken, Verpflegung und Wale aus nächster Nähe - almes super. Der Kapitän und alle Besatzungsmitglieder handeltfn professionell aber stets freundlich. So wurden wir nach jedem Tauchgang von ihm und einer unabhängigen Assistentin per Zählgerät abgezählt, wobei jeder auf seiner Standposition verharren musste. Auch bei der Rückfahrt sah man, wie eingespielt dieses Team war und wie zufriesen auch der Captain mit seiner Mannschaft war, in dem er das eine oder andere Lob fallen ließ. So war es ein durch und durch schönes Erlebnis, bei dem auch die Rahmenbedingungen perfekt waren.

Super schöner Tagestrip

Mir hat es richtig gut gefallen. War alleine unterwegs und das Team war einfach (wie fast alle Australier) so nett und gut drauf. Das Boot war mega schön und komfortabel, Essen war gut und die beiden Riffspots auch! Ein gelungener Tag mit kleinen Riffhaien, Nemos, Schildkröten,.. Kann ich ohne Bedenken nur weiterempfehlen ??

Alles bestens, zu berücksichtigen ist nur, dass es sich bei dem Trip um begleitetes Schnorcheln habdelt. Ein individuelles Schnorcheln wird nicht erlaubt, man hat in der Gruppe zu bleiben.
