A region that changes from agricultural land, to scrub forest, to ancient rainforests, it is definitely a natural wonder which is worth exploring... Everything from ranges and waterfalls, to spectacular national parks and tea plantations.
Barefoot has been touring the waterfalls of Far North Queensland for over a decade. They love nature and the outdoors and have prided themselves on making it accessible, fun and informative. It’s a tour where you can see all different types of waterfalls, lookouts, lakes/craters within the World Heritage Rainforest and if you're lucky some of the endemic wildlife of the Tropics.
Places they frequent often include Josephine Falls, Babinda Boulders, Millaa Millaa falls, Lake Eacham and the glorious Fig Tree. There is a plenty of other alternatives each day and this varies daily… You will have numerous opportunities to swim throughout the day as well as stretch your legs out and explore the terrain. If you read through Barefoot’s website and some of their blogs, you will get a better idea of the region and how they can try to cater the day for each group. It is what sets them aside from the other tours out there.
Duration: Please allow up to 11hrs for the whole experience from start to finish, every day is a little different, depends on weather, road conditions & fun!
Thanks Caroline for 5* feedback. Lunch is a simple, practical picnic sandwhiches - something I always miss when I am travelling abroad. Also means we can have lunch almost anywhere throughout the day - which is a huge plus :-) I hope you enjoyed the rest of Cairns this much! Chelsea @ Barefoot Tours
Le guide est très sympa, et ne vous presse pas ... Le repas est simple et frais (n' oubliez pas votre bouteille d'eau). Belle excursion.
What a blast! From the first good morning to the final goodbye, Dom was full of warmth, enthusiasm and joy. We did 4 waterfalls, 2 lookouts, a crater lake, fantastic views, some challenging hikes and a day of easy fun had by the 14 of us on board the bus. He drove well, fast enough without being reckless at all. Meals are pretty bare essentials namely the DIY sandwich lunch and biscuits/lamingtons morning tea. It made the tour feel lacking in value/care; considering we had hot chicken, 3 full on salads, cheese platter, fruits and wine on a Reef trip the day before (on a boat in open sea!), for less money than this tour! It was an 11 hour trip! Good we came prepared with our own crackers, cheese and olive dips. Atherton tablelands is stunning naturally anyway and this tour gave us an eyeful of some amazing scenes. All kudos to Dom... he was the real value here!
